Welcome to Eagle Crest Charter Academy

History of Eagle Crest
Under the leadership of Principal, Daniel Harris, Eagle Crest opened its doors in 1997 with 136 students in grades kindergarten through five. Enrollment has grown steadily each year, and we now house 680 students in grades kindergarten through eight. We have also developed a kindergarten readiness program. Much of our growth is due to the fact that 98% of our parents report satisfaction with the school, and 98% would recommend Eagle Crest to friends and family.

Keys to Success
Eagle Crest is proud to be a back-to-basics school where we focus on a challenging curriculum, moral development and parent involvement.
The four core subjects of language arts, math, science and social studies receive the strongest emphasis. A powerful character education (moral focus) is integrated throughout all subject areas. Students also receive regular instruction in art, physical education and music (including vocal and instrumental music in grades 5 through 8). All students have regular use of a networked computer lab and the library. Spanish is taught to 4th through 8th grade students.
Parents are an extension of and vital component to our academic program. Parental involvement is the key to any child’s success. Therefore, parents are encouraged to participate in a variety of ways. It is not uncommon to see parents in almost every classroom throughout the day.

An Exceptional, Dedicated Staff
Under the leadership of Principal, Daniel Harris, the staff at Eagle Crest works as a team to challenge EACH child to achieve.
Mr. Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arizona in 1983. After graduation, he remained in Tucson, Arizona and taught first and second grades for six years. He taught another five years in fourth and fifth grades. In 1996, he relocated with his family to Holland, Michigan and joined National Heritage Academies at the Vanderbilt campus for their inaugural year. The following year, the Eagle Crest campus was opened and he took on the challenge of principal. He continued his education by earning his Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University in 2003.

Every classroom teacher at Eagle Crest has been certified by the State of Michigan Board of Education and holds a Provisional, Continuing, or Professional certificate in the area they teach. Many are working toward, or have received, Master’s Degrees. The teachers work as teams, by grade level, to share ideas for classroom development.
Eagle Crest has all of the special education staff children may need to reach their potential. From Title 1 Reading to Resource Room help, we have the staff in place to help every child succeed.

The staff at Eagle Crest is proud of what they are accomplishing as a back-to-basics, morally focused, parent involved system of education.
